BIRKENHEAD TOWN HALL.
(To the Editor.)
Sir, —I see in to-night's "Star" a warning- to ratepayers not to sign the petition empowering the Council to strike a special rate for the erection of a Town Hall. I certainly agree with your correspondent in warning those who have to pay the piper not to sign till they know the tune. The building may cost anything from £600 up to £1000, and I certainly think ratepayers should not commit themselves until more information is available.—l am, etc., NODDY BOFFIN.
