"In a local but important way the question of preferential trade relations is raised by an advertisement in this issue, inserted by the Northern Roller Milling Company, of Auckland. Its management very pertinently ask why sumers should buy American Flour, the production of which gives no employment to labour in this country, when New Zealand-made Flour of admittedly high quality is obtainable? This is a subject which is worthy the attention oi the workers, who, if they expect to be paid fair wages, must also consider it their duty to support wherever practicable industries established in the country, and employing our own people. There is another reason which should lead consumers to patronise the Northern Roller Mills' products, as, 'in addition to the woll known excellence of these, this company has unflinchingly fought the battle against the milling combine."
