STATE FIRE INSURANCE.

CHRISTCHURCH, Monday
At a meeting of the committee of the Canterbury Chamber of Commerce to-day the following resolution with reference to the State JB'ire Insurance Bill was carried: —"That this Chamber considers that the provisions of the State Fire Insurance Bill are unworkable, and trusts thnt the Government will definitely withdraw it, and is further of opinion that Government competition in trade and commerce is detrimental to the general prosperity of the country."
