THAMES NEWS.
(By Telegraph.— Ovn Correspondent.)
THAMES, this day,
At one o'clock this morning , a young man named Roger Eddowes, a cripple, was found half drowned in water at the Shortland wharf. Constable Hodgson conveyed him to the hospital, where he was attended to by Dr. Aubin and pronounced out of danger. s I learn that the matter of adjusting accounts between the Auckland Hospital authorities and the. local Hospital and Charitable Aid Board will soon be brought up for final settlement. The account now stands at £255 13/10. This will make a big hole in the finances of the local bodies. It is stated that in some cases the Auckland Board did not notify the loctM bodies as'to the admission of Thames patients, but against this it is alleged notification was forwarded. Accommodation at the hospital has been taxed to the utmost during- the past months. Some of the patients have had to be accommodated with beds on the floor. The hospital is provided with fortytwo beds, but there have been fortyfive and forty-six patients under treatment. Great interest is being taken in the football match, Thames v. Auckland. While a majority of supporters anticipate defeat of the Thames team they latter are sure to make their usual good fight.
