SATURDAY.

Mr, H. W. Brabant, S.M., dealt with the business at the Police Court this morning. Two first offenders were convicted of drunkenness and discharged, another, who did not appear, was ordered to forfeit his bail money. Another offender, who had not been up for over six months, was fined 5/ with the usual alternative, and another offender, who was convicted yesterday of using obscene language, was fined 10/ or 48 hours in default. Gustav Adolphus Johnson, a seaman, unknown to the police, was fined. 5/, or. 24 hours in default, for drunkenness, and was sent to gaol for 14 days for assaulting Sergeant Hansen in the execution of his duty. He was also convicted of wilfully damaging Constable Cahjll's shako, and was ordered to pay the damage, with 24 hours in default. Leslie Mason was convicted of drunkenness, and was sent to gaol for one month for using obscene language in Queen-street. The charges preferred by the traffic inspector against Andrew Cunningham of permitting His cart to ply for hire withoiit it being registered, and of permits ting the same to ply for hire without it being licensed, were withdrawn by the consent of both parties.
