KITCHENER'S RETURN.
A WARM WELCOME HOME

LONDON, July 13
The E.M.S. Orotava, Isy which Lord Kitchener returned trom South Africa, arrived at Southampton at nine o'clock this morning. The vessel was quarantined. Major Gordon, of the Gordon Highlanders, is suffering from small-pox. Lord Kitchener and staff were permitted to land. The indiap princes, the Duke of Cambridge, Mr. Brodriek (Secretary of State for War), and the Duke of Connaught met the party at Paddington station, where the Prince of Wales welcomed Lord Kitchener, who is well bronzed. Lord Kitchener introduced General French. The party had a tremendous ovation on the route. Lord Kitchener, General lan Hamilton and staff were in khaki, and drove, Lord Roberts and staff escorting them. Many colonials witnessed the procession from the Coronation stands on Constitution Hill, while the colonial and Indian troops lined the route. The Queen and many .Royal guests viewed the procession from the balcony of Buckingham Palace. The Prince of Wales entertained Lord Kitchener at St. James' Palace, thanking him on behalf of the King and Empire. The King- had watched with admiration his tenacity, skill and patience. Lord Salisbury and the Ministers were present. Lord Kitchener and General French visited the King later, and were received by His Majesty.
