CITY A V. EDEN AND EPSOM.

This was the most closely contested match of the day, and was won by tße City by 4 gosls (Hay 2, O'Hare 2) to 3 (Sayers 2, Walton 1). The teams were:— City A: E. O'Hare, B. C. O'Hare, Dervan, Bladder, Eagleton. Bradley. Pallant.Hay, Flyger, Leslie, Miller, and Purdie. Edem and Epsom: Mackintosh, Owen, Brown, Moody. Gummer, Somerfield. Foubister, A. Walton. H. Walton, Snyers, Esam, and Stewart. The" first goal was the result of some good passing between Stewart, H. Walton. A. Walton, and the latter landing a good goal for Eden and Epsom. Afi-er some even play Hay got thorough his opponents, and" breaking in from the line beat Mclntosh with a hot shot, which made the score? equal. After change of ends the City' men again, assumed the aggressive, and Hay, giving a pass to Miller near the goal, drew out the defence and gave O'Hare a chance to secure goal No. 2 for his side. This aroused the E. and E.s, and some smart play kept the City defence engaged for some time, till Bladder at length cleared. Hay, Pu.rclie, Leslie, and Miller were prominent in the next attack in yeilow and black quarters, and Hay finally registered another goal, which placed the score at half timo: City 3, Eden and Epsom 1. In the third quarter there was no change of score, but in the last spell Walton and O'Hare each added a point'for their respective sides, and the game ended with *he score: City 4, Eden and Epsom 2. Mr P. White was referee. " G'RAFTON A~ V. PARNELL. Gratton secured a victory of 9 goals to 1. The points were obtained by Atkinson ((j), Hill (2), and Sloman (1) for the winners, and Fairburn for Parnell. This resuit places the cup into the hands of the Grafton team, their only remaining- fixture being with Eden and Epsom, who are now five points behind them. Atkinson secured the three first goals by means of some clever passing with Hill-before the change of ends. The same pair manoeuvred a fourth point after some attempts by Morrin and Fairburn. Hill added the fifth, and Atkinson the sixth, before hplf-time arrived. After the change of ends Sloman scored, and then a rally bx r the Parnell men 'made matters interesting around the Grafton goal, both Philson and Fairburn sending in shots i The pressure, however, was relieved, ana an attack was quickly made around the Parnell net, Atkinson again scoring. In the last quarter Fairburn succeeded in obtaining a goal for Parnell, and the City were more modest, adding only one more, by Atkinson. The final score was: City 9, Parnell 1. Mr A. Brown was referee.
