RE GREY LYNN BOROUGH COUNCIL.
(To the, Editor, j
Sir,—The Grey Lynn Borough Council; in making the sanitary contract, not only collect the money and pay the contractor themselves, but they intend to make the ratepayers pay for twelve months' service in advance. Now, sir, this I contend is most unfair. The sanitary night service is a piece of work, and why should people be compelled to pay for work twelve months before they have it done, and the Council have the use of their money for nothing. .Now, sir> if the law gives any Council the power to do this, it is a very unjust law, and I think the Council far exceed their duty in so d°i n g> and I would advise all ratepayers that have not paid their sanitary rate not to do so. If they will join with me we will call a meeting of ratepayers and protest against the action of the Council. There are a lot of poor people in Grey Lynn, the same as any other borough, and it is time enough to pay for work after they have it done, and not before. As for the pan system, it is no better than the one they have had.—l am, etc., C. NICfIOLLS.
