FEASTING THE SCHOOL CHILDREN.

THAMES, this day.
To-day the distribution of bags of cakes and lollies to the school children was carried out. From an early hour the assistants were busily engaged in arranging the various consignments of bags for the town and country schools. The parcels for the local schools we.re forwarded to the headmasters, oaid the country parcels were despatched per rail and brakes. In all, 2000 bags were' given away.

WELLINGTON, this day.
To-day is a general holiday in the Government Buildings, except in the Treasury, where the returned troopers are being oaid one mouth's pay. They will receive further pay on the expiration of furlough of a month.
The weather is still gloomy. Shops and business houses are carrying on as usual.

Intercessiona] services for the recovery of the King were held In all the churches 'this morning. There were special prayers and hymns. The Cathedral, where Bishop Julius preached, was crowded, and large congregations were present at the other churches.
