Water Supply.—The following notices of motion, appearing in Mr Philson's name, were considered: "That a return be prepared and presented to the Council showing the total payments for water supply other than in connection with water for domestic purposes, for the year ending December 31, 1902. Such return to specify particulars as to scale or special arrangements paid by each of the undermentioned businesses or occupations: Auckland Harbour Board, water for d*ck; latrines on wharf, Ferry Company, hotels, racecourse, various butchers, bakers, livery stables, racing stabies, and any other extraordinary supplies." The Mayor could .not see that there was any prospect of the water rate being lowered, as the ruling rate was very reasonable, and it would be unprofitable to sell the water for less. The arrangements made in connection with all extraordinary supplies had been satisfactory to the Council, and had not been complained of by consumers. He moved an amendment.
