AN OLD PREDICTION.
"THE GIPSY'S WARNING."
Intelligent people are not usually given to reposing much faith in for-tune-tellers' predictions, but an Aucklander reminds us to-day of one in regard to the King which some may look upon as rather significant. It is related that many years ago King Edward (then Prince of Wales), the Prince Imperial, and a high Prince of the House of Austria were together in a certain country locality in England, when they consulted a gipsy fortune-teller. The old "witch-woman" read their hands, and said that she saw therein signs of grave import. Being pressed to say what she meant, she told them that none of them would ever "come into possession," or reach the highest position to which they aspired, and she gave the Prince of Wales to understand in her dark hints that he would never live to be. crowned King. The Prince Imperial and the Austrian heir were both cut off by death, and now .there are fears that the g-ipsy's warning in regard to Queen Victoria's son may possibly be unfortunately verified.
