HARBOUR BOARD.
The fortnightly meeting was held yesterday afternoon. Present: Mr Gunson (in the chair), and Messrs Harris, Stichbury, A. H. Nathan, Philson, Walker, Dacre, Cozens and J. T. Julian.
Hobson Bay Drainage Board.—The Works Committee recommended that consideration of a letter from the Hobson Bay Drainage Board be deferred and Messrs Russell and Campbell instructed to prepare and submit to this committee draft deed between the Drainage Board and the Harbour Board, embodying in it.the consent of the Bpard to the sewer upon such conditions as will provide ultimately for the Drainage Board to compulsorily undertake at the request of the Harbour Board (when the Harbour Board undertakes any further reclamation) to extend the sewer at the cost of the Drainage Board to the seaward limit of an> such reclamation, and ii required by the Board at any future time, either at the present terminus of the draiii or any future terminus of the drain, to construct at the cost of the Drainage Board, septic tanks, or such other appliances as the Board may require for the purification of the sewage coming from the aewer prior to its depositing into the harbour.
Mr Craig's Wharf.r—A letter was received from the Marine Department notifying sanction by the Governor-in-Council of the plans for a wharf to be constructed by Mr J. J. Craig near the Freezing Co.'s works. —Letter received. It was stated that this did not include the plans for the additional 10 feet.
Calliope Dock.—Mr J. M. Brigham wired from London on the 19th inst.: "Arranged meet Admiralty Lord early next week." Telegram received.
Scenery Conservation Society.. —The secretary •of the Auckland Scenery Conservation Society wrote recommending that a road from Mechanic's Bay to the foot of St. George's Row be added to the general scheme indicated in the former report. Referred to the Legal and Finance Committee.
New Wharf Sheds.—Messrs Newson and Coulson applied for an extension of four weeks' time for the completion of the new shed on the western tee, owing to recent bad weather, difficulty in obtaining- a number of long leugths of timber, and also an accident, a portion of the shed being blown away. The. contractors stated that the shed could be used to a certain extent, and they would afford every facility for this purpose. On the motion of Mr Julian the matter was deferred till- the completion of the contract, in accordance with usual custom.
Assistant Storekeeper. —Out of six applicants for the post of assistant storekeeper Mr. E. P. Bennett was appointed, at a salary of £150 per annum.

Clerk and Draughtsman.—The Works and Tariff Committee recommended that the conditions of appointment as submitted by the engineer be approved, and applications invited for tne position of clerk and draughtsman returnable on the Bth July, 1902. Agreed to.
Fire Float and Tug Boat. —The Works Committee recommended that letter from Messrs Merryweather, report from Mr Macfarlane, and tender for copper pipes (for fire float and tug boat) from Messrs Dunn, Smith and Co., be referred to a sub-commit-tee, consisting of Messrs Gunson, Walker, and Julian, to report. Agreed to.
