THE CORONATION.

WELLINGTON, Sunday.
Sir Joseph Ward states that expenditure by local bodies on memorials of the Coronation, such, for, instance, as fountains, will be considered as commemorative expenditure, and will be assisted by - the Government subsidy of £500 to cities and £200 to boroughs.

The Roman Catholic Archbishop of New Zealand is issuing a circular enjoining that in all churches a solemn Te Deum of thanksgiving and invocation be sung or recited on Coronation Day or on the following Sunday.
The Harbour Board offered the lease of 39 allotments in Customs-street East, Quay-street, and Mechanics' Bay, by public auction to-day, Messrs. G. W. Binney & Sons selling. An allotment with 33ft frontage to Cus-toms-street, next to the New Zealand Shipping Company's was sold to Messrs. H. E. Partridge & Co. at the upset price of £C» 10/. Allotments 14 to 19,'Mechanics''Bay, were re-leased to Messrs. Macklow Bros. at the upset price of £50 a year for thirteen years. Tbe remaining allotments offered were passed in.
