NEW YORK, May 15
The military guarding the town of St. Pierre deter pirates visiting that place from the neighbouring islands.
Thre luminous points on the lower slopes of Mt. Pelee presage a further calamity.
Forty thousand pounds' worth of jewellery has been recovered from the St. Pierre bank.
Five Creoles and a white man were arrested with their pockets full of coins and jewellery stolen from the dead.
The Colonial Secretary of Jamaica thinks Great Britain should depot t the population of St. Vincent to one of the neighbouring British islands, and abandon the island.

It is believed that the victims at Martinique include Behanzen, the exKing of Dahomey, who was deported some years ago from French Dahomey, West Africa.
