Breaches of By-laws: Henry Cairney, a 'bus driver, charged with passing a vehicle on' the wrong, side, of the Jrtreet,. in Pitt-gtreet, was fined 10/ and' costs. For a similar breach of the by-laws in Khyber Pass, Edward Eiohler was fined 5/ and costs. . .'.

Drunkenness: For this offence two first offenders were convicted a,nd discharged: Committed-for Trial: Further evidence ■was heard for the prosecution in. th* alpeof Heiiry Christopher Smith and Helena Marsh, who were charged with stealing £23, the properly of James Johnson, and a purge, and £3 in notes, the propertyof Eliza Woods. ■ The case was partly heard on Wednesday. Evidence called this morning went to show that Johnson had. a- roll of notes- in his possession prior to going to Smith's house. Both, v.he were uetended by Mr Reid. reserved their defence, and were committed for tiial to the Supreme Court, bail being allowed.

Breaches of By-laws: John Budge, for whom Mr McGregor appeared, was fined 20/ and costs for permitting two horses to bf> at large on the Lake Road, Takapuiia. Edward Henry Sheriff was convicted of permitting a cow to wander in Miiford Road, Devonport, and was discharged. Charles jYif^uiiian was finpd 5/ for obstructing tne lootpath in College Road by tethering a horse there. Alexander Stewart was fined 5/ and costs for driving after sunset without lights in Symonds-streetl The Eights that Failed: Alexander Schultze was fined 10/ and costs on each of two charges of failing to keep the light over his hotel door alight from surset to sunrise. Defendant pleaded that the weather was responsible for the light going out Charies Bishop, licenser of the Wynyard Arms Hotel, was fined 10/ for a similar breach of the byThe Court then adjourned.
