DUNEDIN, this day.
Tenders were opened last night by; tlie City Council for a four per cent. ; tramway loan of £50,000. TendeJs 'A were received for £87,000, and the loan " realised an average of £100 3/2. Tha Mayor's salary was fixed at £400. Tha Mayor stated, in the course of a speech, , that a casual value of the assets of the city amounted to £906,553, and the;; gross receipts from all sources £134,0-10 per annum. The corporation had saved £5300 in interest within the pas.t five years by the partial reduction of loaii3, and securing the balance at four per cent, instead of six or seven per cent.
