THE DEFIANCE.

The brigantine Defiance, which arrived from Wollongong as we went to press yesterday, reports that heavy gales are still raging in the Tasman Sea. Cape Maria Van Diemen was passed on Monday last, and down the coast strong west and south-west winds were experienced.
