PORT ALBERT.
In Thursday's "Star" appears advertisement calling for tenders for erecting a building for the Wayby Butter Factory. It is intended to call for tenders for building for creamery at Port Albert shortly. The site for the latter building on Mr J Beeroft's property is in every respect most suitable. The limber fo: building can be conveyed by water from local sawmill to within a few chains of site for creamery.
The heavy cost of freight on fruit from here to Wellington is felt to be very excessive, as the fruit Is still selling at low ork.es. Good, sound apples over 401bs per ease have been frequently sold at 2/6 and 3/ per case. Freight is 1/5 a case; the case and commission Bd, or 2/1 a case. Had we railway communication the cost would be for carriage 6d a case to Wellington. In the matter of carriage of fruit and egg*, much loss to settlers and storekeepers results from careless handling. , . The newly-appointed superintendent of the Methodist Church, Mahurangi circuit, Rev. G. T. Marshall, preached at Port Albert on Sunday. A favourable impression was the result.
