ONEHUNGA BENEVOLENT SOCIETY,
The annual meeting of tho Onehunga Laches' Benevolent Society was held hi the Anglican schoolroom on Tuesday, the Rev. C. Griffin presiding. The report slated that the year began with 11 cases on the relief list; 18 coses have been relieved during the year, and at the end of the year UYla.rch 31) 10 persons were receiving assistance. Most of these were chronic cases, some having been on the society's books for years. Seven are widows and two are deserted wives with .young children. Over £44 had been expended in rent by the society and £13 by the Charitable Aid Board. The receipts were £28 19/6 less than last year, with a decrease in the expenditure of £12 16/1. The society exceedingly regretted the loss of their late auditor, Mr C. C. Fleming., who never heard of want without relieving it. Dr. Pabst had klndlv consented to attend cases under the care of the society, and to him and Dr. Scott, together with the lady collectors and Mrs Haselden, for the use of a meet-ing-room, the committee tendered their heartiest thanks. The statement of accounts for the year ending March 31, 1002, was as follows:—Cr.: Cash in hand, £3 1/11; subscriptions and donations, £30 9/3: received from Charitable Aid Board, £75; balance in I.D. Bank In 1903, £130 1/9: interest on cash in I.D. Bank. £4 Wll; interest on shares in land soeietv £3: total. £2-16 9/1.0. Dr.: Expended in relief. £7t 31/7: paid to Charitable Aid Board. £39 14/3; balance in I.D. Bank, £128 12/2; cash m bnnri £2 11/10- tn[>^ £246 9/10. Assets: Three paid-up shares in land society. £60: credit balance with Charitable Aid Board, £-18 37/7: credit bnlance Industria' Ppposjt Bank. £12.8 12/2; cash In hand. '£?. 11/10: total. £241 1/7.
