THAMES, this day
Next Saturday a rifle match, Thames v. Hauraki Rifles, will be fired. The condition's are ten men aside, ten shots at 500 and 600 yards. In the punt accident on the Thames River yesterday, Mr White, butcher, of Karangahake, was thrown into the water, but Mr Ludwig, who was following in a dingy, promptly came to the rescue and saved White with some difficulty. A pleasing ceremony eventuated at Price Bros., foundry. Mr Geo- Darrow, who has severed his connection with the firm, was presented by his shopmates and the members of the Foundry Cricket Club with a set of gold sleeve links, and a gold-mounted quartz pendant-To-day M^ Francis Trembath was installed Mayor of the Thames for the second term. It has been decided to celebrate Coronation Day by holding a children's festival, and probably the opening of the Victoria Reserve.
Mr Ernest Tuck speaks at the Church of Christ, West-street, this evening.
