Mr W. E. Haselden, S.M., and Capt. Walker, nautical assessor, sat at Wellington on Monday to inquire into the circumstances surrounding the death of the seaman Plunkett. vk° ■was knocked overboard from the Kumara by a sail and drowned during the voyage of the vessel from Port Elizabeth to New Zealand. Mr Gray appeared for the officers of the vessel and Mr Gully for the Marine Depart men-t Mr Gully said that he had had a consultation with Mr Gray, and they, considered it advisable "that the evidence taken at Auckland should be before the Court before the inquiry was held at Wedlington, and as the steamer was leaving port shortly and; would not return until the Ist of M-*?\ they asked that the inquiry be adjourned tmfil 2nd1 of May.
