AN AUCKLANDER MISSING
REPORTED TO BE DEAD
LONDON, April 21
P. Letts, of the Sixth New Zealand Contingent, who was missing at Eustardsdrift, is reported to be dead.
[This evidently refers to Trooper Salph Letts, formerly of Hokianga, we are informed, joined the Sixth Contingent in Auckland, and -*cent to the front with them. He ■^as about 24 years of. age, and his father is a settler in the Hokianga district. Letts worked for Mr W. Winn, g-rocer, of this city; prior to leaving. A brother of his—Bay— went out with the Fifth Contingent, and has not been heard of since three months after his arrival at the Cape. Kalph Letts had been captured by Boers once but escaped-]
