The s.s. Athonic. which arrived at Gisborne yesterday from Lyttelton, spends three days there loading frozen meat, wool, tallow, etc., from the newly established Sheep Farmers' Co-operative Freezing Works. ;
The auxiliary three-masted schooner' Samoa 3s expected to sail for Samoa about Saturday. The oil engines are now almost completed, and if depends entirely upon the engineers whether the vessel will be prepared to tp.ke her departure this week.
The schooner Awanui arrived from Gisborne and coast ports last evening with a cargo of 611 sacks maize, 40 tons manure, and sundries. Strong1 westerly winds were met with throughout. The schooner berthed at the wharf this morning, and commenced to discharge, after completing which she loads for Gisborne.
