TABERNACLE SUNDAY SCHOOL ANNIVERSARY.
The 44th anniversary of the Tabernacle Sunday School was held yesterday, when special services were celebrated. The children were arranged on -the large gallery over the rostrum, and the building was tastefully decorated with festoons of greenery. In the morning the Key. Randolph Gray, of Nelson, preached an earnest sermon on Deut. xxii. 8, "When thou buildest a house., then "When thou buildest a new house then thy roof." Mr Gray spoke on the moral battlement of the home, and emphasised the necessity for obedience to parents, the constant recognition of God, a good example, and secret prayer. In the afternoon the Rev. Gray delivered an address to the scholars on the youth David, the king chosen of God. The church was crowded at night, when Pastor Clark preached from 1 Timothy v. 4, "Show piety at home," True piety, he said, was of two degrees—reverence to God, and reverence to parents. Throughout the day the scholars gang special hymns, Mr A. J. Hall conducting. Miss Kendon and Mr J. H. Wells accompanied on tlie piano and organ respectively. A social evening and the annual meeting take place to-morrow evening, and the scholars' kinematograph entertainment and prize distribution will be held on Wednesday evening.
