THE FUNERAL TRAIN
HONOURS TO THE DEAD

LONDON, Anril 9
The late Cecil Rhodes' funeral train was draped in mourning. The latter part was arranged as a chapel lighted with wax candles.
The coffin was covered with the Union Jack. ~
A pilot engine preceded the armoured train which- escorted the funeral train.
Extraordinary displays •of the popular love and respect for Mr Rhodes were made all the way along.
Hundreds travelled long- distances to witness the ceremony.
All the post block-houses furnished guards of honour, and presented arms as the train passed.
All business was suspended, and the buildings were draped in mourning. Kipling's elegy, eulogising ,Mr Rhodes' greatness of soul, was read at the grave.
LONDON, April 9
The Khama's brother and a number of other chic*« paid their respects to the remains of the late Hr. Rhodes at Francestown. There was an Immense concourse at Buluwayo. The procession included Colonel Rhodes and Dr. Jameson. The body is lying in state in the Drill Hall.
