OHINEMURI COUNCIL.

PAEROA, Wednesday,

The monthly meeting of the Ohinemuri County Council was held yesterday, when there were present Councillors Poland, (Chairman), BoJer, ©tackpote, D-raffin, Marrtnan, Moore, and Cassrels. The following business was transacted:—

Peel's Creek Road:—An application was made by Mr Roche, general manager of the Hikutala Gold Syndicate, for a grant towards putting this road leading- from the Maratoto Road to the Company's battery and mine in a fit state to stand the winter traffic, which it was anticipated would be heavy. It was agreed that £200 be expended on the road, including a Government grant of £100.

Dangerous Places.—The Engineer was instructed to buy ten tons of old railway rails to be used in fencing- the most dangerous places on this road.

Allocation of Gold Duty.—lt was resolved to thank the Colonial Secretary for his reply to the communication of the Council on this matter.

Inspector of Nuisances.—lt was resolved to invite applications for this position salary £25.

Te Irangi O Pirori Road.—A deputation of settlers from the Kaimanawa Road asked for a grant to improve the above road, as at present they had no means of getting out. except through private lands On the motion of Mr Marrlnan It was decided to widen and clean out the main drain, cost not to exceed £100, tenders to be returnable on the 22nd inst. Karangahake Night Sol! Denot— r>«. Makgill, District Health Officer, havtoe approved of the site selected, the Council decided to have it surveyed and erant ed by the Warden. l

Waitoa Riding.—lt was decided to visit this . district ..on Tuesday, the 16th inst also..the Waftoa Estate, at present being cut up by the Assets Realisation Board as the Board desire the Council to take over certain-roads running through the estate.
