PUT BACK TO SYDNEY.

SYDNEY, this day.
The Italian barque Paola Madre, 103S tons, which 'eft for Genoa early last month, has put back in a disabled and battered condition.
She encountered terrific hurricane* off the coast of New Zealand on March 21.
The- boats were washed away, bulwarks and wheel-house destroyed, the steering g-ear injured, and a number of sails lost. The forecastle was flooded.
The men were two and a half daya continuously at the pumps.
A course was made back to Sydney as soon as the weather mode-
