MESSAGE FROM AUCKLAND.
Yesterday the Mayor of Auckland (Mr Alfred Kidd) sent the followingtelegram to the secretary of the Testimonial Committee at Christchurch: —" On behalf of the people of Auckland provincial district, please convey to Right Hon. the Premier their heartiest g-ood wishes for a pleifsant trin Home. The endorsement of his policy in relation to Imperial troubles in South Africa, by
the hearty response of the people of the colony time after time in volunteering, equipping, and sending off contingent after contingent, has found practical expression in presentation to be made to-night from all classes of the community and all shades of politics. The people of Auckland have in their thousands already given the Bight Hon. the Premier a very cordial send-off, and desire to again express sincerest good will towards him, and to assure him of their heartiest support of the policy formulated in so statesmanlike a manner and so successfully carried out by him in respect of the war in South Africa. But for the sudden departure, Auckland would undoubtedly have been represented amongst you in making the colonial presentation to-night. Rely upon you, therefore, to express its hearty cooperation in the presentation, and its warm and kindliest feelings to the Right Hon. and Mrs'Seddon in their trip Home to represent the colony at the Coronation of the King. Some of the subscription lists, which are still outstanding, should be returned to the town clerk s otnee at once.
