Subscriber, Waihi. —The Waikato War commenced on the 12th July, 1863, the date on which the troops crossed the- Maungatawhiri. It ended with the' fight at Orakau on the 2nd of April, 1564. On the 21st April, 1864, General Cameron established'his headquarters at Tauranga. 2. The old courthouse and gaol- were sittiated in Queen-street, on the block between Victoria and Darby Streets.
