Contacts Ward Site. —The question of the proposed re-erection of the contacts' ward on the Auckland Domain was discussed at some length, and several of the members protested against encroachments on the ground which had been set aside as a public recreation ground. Mr. Aickin said it appeared the City Council were not protecting the public as they should do in this matter, and if it was found necessary some steps should be laken to approach the Supreme Court to obtain an injunction to prevent such encroachments being made. On the motion of Mr. Allom it was resolved, (1) '"That this Society will resist by every means in its power the continued illegal encroachments on the public rights in the Auckland Domain: (2) that the proposal now before the City Council for the re-erec-tion o* the plague contacts hospital affords, the Council the opportunity of carrying oat the pledge given two years ago that the occupation of the Domain should only be temporary; (3 j ih-ii this society hopes that the City Coum.il will now see the advisability i:f causing the whole of tho plas-u'e buildings to be removed fro.n the Domain." It was decided to forward copies of these resolutions to the Government, the Auckland City Council and the Parnell and Newmarki~, Porough Councils, and Messrs. Aickin, Allom, Morton, Burtt and Holt were appointed a sub-committee t 1 watch proceedings in connection with the plague hospital, with power to consult a lawyer as to the legal steps necessary to check encroachments on the Domain.
