THE CALLIOPE DOCK.
His Excellency Rear-Admiral Beaumont visited Calliope Dock yesterday afternoon, in company with members of the Auckland Harbour Board, for the purpose of considering the amended plan for sheer legs and for the deep water berth, submitted to the Harbour Hoard through the Admiral. His Excellency was accompanied by IMag-Lieutenant Pratt-Barlow, Commander Power ancl Staff-Engineer _Mo°'. Messrs Gunson (chairman), Napier, Witheford, Niccol, Julian, and Cozens were the members of the Board present, ancl Messrs J. M. Hrigham (secretary), and C. La Roche ancl J. M. Metcalfe (engineers) were also in attendance. The plans were carefully gone into by the Admiral, his officers, and the Board, and it was decided that the wharf should be extended to a length of 360 ft, with a dolphin 50ft off at either end, and that-off-shore anchors and buoys be provided. The Admiral will cable Home the decision arrived at. The Admiral was shown over the machinery at the dock, the machines all working with the greatest smoothness. The Board intends to energetically push on the completion of the works at the Dock.
