THE PROPOSED PARNELL BOROUGH LOAN.

Sir, —The above Council have called a meeting of the ratepaj rers of Parnell for Friday evening, the 11th inst., in the Oddfellows' Hall, for the purpose of discussing the proposed loan of £15,000 for certain works. This is a matter of considerable importance to the ratepayers, and it is their duty to attend the meeting, when the necessity for this heavy loan will be enquired into. The already indebtedness of the. Borough is about £25,000, and the extra saddle of £15,000 will entail a considerable advance in the rales, viz., 7d or Sd in the pound, which, with water and nightsoil charges, etc., will bring a charge of about 4/ in the pound, if not more. There are other matters which will probably be brought up, and it is the intention to ventilate this loan matter thoroughly. Ratepayers, watch your interests. —1 am, etc., A.A.
