Mr Russell (Westland) seconded. Mr' Fawcus (Axickland) moved! as an amendment: " That it be an instruction to the executive not to accept from any Council more than six subjects'for the order paper at the forthcoming Conference, 1903, provided that in case of Councils that have forwarded'items which,may overlap, then the delegates attending Conference may substitute other items as per agreement between the* Councils concerned, and that Councils on forwarding items" to the executive state as definitely as possible the /nature of the propositions." ''■{.' Mr Naughton (Wellington) seconded the amendment. He considered it very desirable that the order paper .be restricted to not more than six .subjects from any Council,- as a lengthy order paper could not be carefully discussed. The amendment was carried by eight votes to five, and, becoming the motion, was~adopted. On the motion of Mr Rusbridge, seconded by Mr McCullough, it was resolved:-" That all matters of a legislative character passed by the Conference be forwarded to Ministers of the Crown and all members of Parliament." A very hearty vote of thanks was tendered to the chairman for the impartial manner in which he had conducted the business of the ConferOn the motion of Mr Rosser, seconded by Mr Russell, it was resolved: "That this conference pass a hearty vote of thanks to the Labour Department for the expeditious manner in which the registration of unions has been executed." On the motion of Mr. Hood, seconded by Mr. Collins, it was resolved, "That it be an instruction to the executive for the ensuing year fo send the printed report of this Conference to England, America, Belgium and other European countries."
