SEND PER FRISCO MAIL.

THIS WEEK'S "GRAPHIC."

IT CONTAINS

OVER SEVENTY ILLUSTRATIONS

OF THE LAYING OF THE PACIFIC

CABLE,

THE EMANCIPATION OF THE

NORTH,

THE NEW ZEALA">TO QUICKSILVER

MINES,

IN LAKE AND FIORDLAND,

Etc., Etc., Etc.

No more valuable contribution to our knowledge of the neglected North has been forthcoming than the views and letterpress contained in this week's "Graphic," which devotes live pages to pictures of the country traversed by the, party of Parliamentary representatives and others who recentlj' made a trip round the northern region. They were accompanied throughout by the "Graphic" photographer, and in this issue of the journal is published the first batch of a series of interesting scenes. A fine map accompanies the pictures. The illustrations in connection with the laying of the Pacific cab! e to New Zealand are in their way unique. Some which were furnished by an officer ot the ship showing the steamer at work in the open ocean are published by the "Graphic" alone. The beauties of the Southern Lake and Fiordland are set forth in a.new series of views. Among the racing pictures are scenes in connection with the Ohinenruri Jockey Club's Meeting. An interesting illustration is that of the testimonial presented to Mr and Mrs Seddon by the old age pensioners of Auckland. In other respects the number is a capital one, and should be sent Home to friends by the outgoing mail on Saturday. ____.
