WELLINGTON, this day.
Wind.—Moderate to strong from between north-west, west, and south-west at all places north of Kaikoura and Holiitika; from between south-east, south and south-west elsewhere. Barometer.—Rise everywhere. Sea.—Moderate on Western Coast, considerable on Eastern Coast, south of East Cape, moderate thence northward. Tides.—Moderate on East Coast north of East Cape; good from thence southward on West Coast of North Island; moderate elsewhere. Synopsis of the last 24 hours.—Slowly decreasing pressure everywhere until about S p.m. Since then it has risen everywhere. Moderate northerly winds and heavy rain have been experienced in most parts of the country, northward of Kaikoura and Hokitika, but easterly ■winds and generally fine weather elsewhere. '
