THE BAND CONTEST.

Sir, —In last night's issue of the/ "-Star" a correspondent furnishes your readers with the aggregate marks obtained by the Wellington and Wanganui Bands in the recent contest; the said figures included marks for clean faces (shaved), clean; . boots, clean instruments, and the appearance of the individual bandsmen. Will your correspondent furnish us with the number of points awarded each band for music, and • music only, omitting all other mat-.' ters which have n>o connection with the musical abilities of the respective bands, as it is the musical, prowess of the Wellington Garrison Baud that Lieutenant Herd claims the victory.—l am, etc., . ..j EUGENE HULSE, B.M-, j: Teacher of Music.
