The Pope, in a long encyclical, which is.generally regarded as embodying testamentary dispositions, characterise^ society hi the present day as in a state of anarchy. He, exhorts the people to return to Chrjst, and declares that the Pontiff is the sole source whence the. world may hope to derive peace and salvation. ~ . .
