Major Lenehan, who has returned to Sydney, gives a direct denial to the statement that he was. imprisoned in connection with the shooting of Boers. He says he was never charged, nexer tried, and never sentenced. Morant and Handcock were hoi immediately under his charge when the shooting was done. Lenetan liars furnisliecf a detailed account of the whole incident to the niilitary authorhies.. He states that when all the facts art- published the ,dishonouring spot on thi' names of Morant and ilaiulcQck will, disappear.: . He also stvcnsflv resents the comments of the London papers. .

Mr Barton has cabled to Lord Kitchener asking for full details of tt*ffair. From numerous and conflicting statements published in the papers it appears that the officers were first tried and acquitted of the alleged murder of :>. German missionary, and subsequently court-martial-led for shooting Boers. .
