PITT-STREET METHODIST CHURCH.
There was a very large congregation at the Pitt-street Methodist Church yesterday' morning, when Dr. Grattan Guinness preached on "The Risen Saviour," taking as his text 2 Timothy ii. S, " Jesus Christ rose from the dead according to My Gospel." Jesus Christ, he said, was now being worshipped in all countries of the world, and this could not be unless He rose from the dead. Numerous attempts had been made to disprove the resurrection, but these had not only failed utterly, but had landed the exponents of them in insurmountable difficulty, and had in some instances won over sceptics to Christianity. The sermon was followed by an earnest appeal to those outside the Kingdom to seek salvation aifcl sanctification through the blood of the Easter Jesus. The opening exercises and Bible-reading were conducted by Mr. W. Brakenrig, and the usual Easter hymns were sung, ju\ Thomson ably presiding at the organ.
