CHAMPIONSHIP MATCHES RESUMED.

AUCKLAND WIN THE SENIOR CHAM-

PIONSHIP,

A CENTURY FOR MacCORMICK

Lovely weather again prevailed on Saturday, when play in the cricket championships was resumed, the ninth draw being concluded. At Devonport Auckland defeated North Shore on the first innings, and by so doing- won the senior grade championship for 1901-1902. They have yet to meet Pamell, but they are now two wins ahead of the latter team, so that the result of the match cannot affect their position. This is the flrst time for some years that Auckland has won the senior championship, and the win is a deservedly popular one. For Auckland on Saturday E. MacCormick was the chief scorer, his total being 10S. There was a good attendance at the Domain, but the cricket was not of an interesting nature. United defeated Gordon by 104 runs on the first innings, and Parnell had an easy win over Ponsonby by 183 runs on the first innings.

AUCKLAND V. NORTH SHORE

Hemus and MacCormick, the not outs of the previous day, took the score past North Shore's total, and Neill, Shepherd. Holland, and Philson all got into ,double figures. At the end of the day the score stood at 293 for six wickets, of which MacCormick had accounted for 108 not out, by patient cricket. He gave only one chance, a difficult one. McNeill bowled well, but was not fortunate. Auckland won by 149 runs on the first innings. North Shore, first innings 144
