A REFUTATION.
(To the Editor.)
Sir,—l see by Saturday night's "Star" that a correspondent in writing to "Zamiel" on my recent sermon on the theatre stated that when 1 was in Dunedin I used limelight views to illustrate my sermons in the Garrison Hall. Now, Sir, all the time I was stationed in Dunedin, which was nine years, I never used limelight or lantern views to illustrate a single sermon or address that I delivered on Sunday. I have never used limelight views in the whole of my ministry on a Sunday, and personally I am against using them myself, although I do not condemn those that do use them. We secured the ear of the crowd in Dunedin, for my night congregation was about 205*% persons, without limelight views, or theatrical assistance, but by simply preaching a gospel which was comprehensive enough to include the material, social, and spiritual good of the people. While I was in Dunedin the mission and myself were on the best' of terms with all the Churches. Your correspondent ought to be more sure of his facts, and "Zamiel" should certainly be more careful before he rushes into print such barefaced misrepresentation.— I am, etc., t
WM. BEADY.
