The ratepayers of Newmarket and, the public generally should have been loud in their protest against committing such a stupendous blunder such as has been perpetrated in Parnell. It also behoves Newmarket to see that the tram rails are not laid so much above the road level as was done at Parnell, fop ? during- almost the whole distance on the Domain .side of Manukau Road vehicular traffic will be a. positive dangei*. There is an erior- • mous amount of traffic in Manuliau Road on race days, and before ana" after football matches at Alexandra Park, and I feel certain that every centre pole erected anywhere about the bottom of Khyber Pass Road will ultimately be besmirched with human j blood, and Councillors voting to that end will have . the ' above enormous responsibility resting on their own :, heads. —I am, etc.,
