OBITUARY.

On January 16 Mr. Joseph McIsaac, bush' manager for the Kauri Timber Company, died somewhat suddenly at Mercury Bay, at the early age of 4 years. Mr. Mclsaac, who was born at Cape Breton, Nova Scotia, had been in the colony for 41 years, ■ and leaves a wife, five sons, and two daughters.

Mr H. N. Quick, the well-known native interpreter, died at his residence, Parawai, on January 22.

Mr. Thomas Eyre, a retired mine manager, booked for the round trip from Sydney, died aboard the steamer Zealandia on the passage irom Auckland to Gisborne on January 22.
