THE GOLDFIELDS.
GOLDEN REEFS,
A trial crushing from a large lode in the Golden Reefs Mine, Kuaotunu, has resulted satisfactorily, 17 tons having yielded 17_ozs. of bullion. OHINEMURI SYNDICATE. The annual report of the Ohinemuri Syndicate (Ltd.) states: The only work undertaken during that period was the driving of Elliott's tunnel, which has been kept going continuously and has been extended a further distance of 581 feet. Of this distance the last. 340 feet have been of a much harder nature. We are now passing under the gully where the large deposit of quartz boulders is lying on the surface, and at this point on the surface there is nice kind sandstone country showing, which may be met any time now in the tunnel. There ha 3 been a good deal of re-timbering done in the old portion of this drive at intervals during the year. The expenditure shows that £978 15/6 was spent during the year developing the mine, £380 15/5 general charges in New Zealand, but there was only £7 8/11 general expenses in London, and the directors
did not take any fees
