(Received 10.30 a.m;) SYDNEY, this day. At the wool sales to-day the demand was excellent and prices were firm, holders in many instances asking above the market limit.

The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Ltd., has received the following cable from its London House:— "London, January 27.—W001: The sales progress firmly. There is now an average advance of about 5 per cent, on last sales' closing rates for slipe crossbred, about 7S per cent, for scoured medium and coarse crossbred, and about. 322= per cent, for medium and coarse greasy crossbred."
