NATIVES ASSOCIATION PICNIC.
The annual picnic of the New Zealand and Australian Natives' Association was held at Home Bay, Motutapu, on Saturday. The Devonport Ferry Company's steamer Eagle, which was chartered for the occasion, made two trips to the island, and on each trip she had a full complement of holiday-niakers. Close upon 1000 peoj)le took part in the picnic, and the bay was a pretty sight during the afternoon, being visited by some thirty-five yachts, which had made Home Bay their rendezvous for their week-end cruise. During the afternoon sports were held for the children, and numerous prizes were provided for the winners of the various events. The secretary, Mr. E. Ford, assisted by an energetic committee, had made every arrangement to prevent all inconvenience, and the whole picnic went oil" without a hitch. Before the steamer left Home Bay the committee thanked Mr Reid for his kindness in allowing the picnic to be held on his island, and in return he expressed the pleasure he would feel in welcoming the Association next year.
