DUNEDIN NOTES.

Mr John Roberts, C.M.G., who has been on a visit to. the Old Country, returned to Dunedin this morning.
Lord Ranfurly unexpectedly visited Nugget Bay on Sunday afternoon, the Tutanekai having drawn in at the oil store to land a quantity of oil for the lighthouse. This is understood to be the first time that Nugget .Bay has been honoured by a visit from a Governor of this colony, and naturally the district was en fete.
Southland cricket is likely to have a decided leg up shortly, as Mr C. G. Wilson, late President of the Victorian Soft Goods Association, and thtf well-known captain of the St. jxilda eleven, is about to take charge of the Invercargill branch of Messrs Sargood, Son and Ewen's business. Mr
Wilson, playing for Victoria, made a big score against the New Zealand jteam at Melbourne a couple of years ago.
