A general meeting of the Auckland Butchers' Union is to be held to-mor-row evening, in the Foresters' Hall, Beresford-street entrance. The large new steam roller ordered by the City Council some months ago arrived froni London yesterday morn* ing by the steamer Tekoa. Th« steamer will berth at the Queen* street wharf to-morrow, and the roller will be put together as soon as possible after delivery. It wUi be ready to work on the roads In two or three weeks' • time, and should prove of great service in view of the large amount of road making- required within the city boundaries at the present time. * She: I see there's a woman in Wellington who is offering £200 to find an honest man. He: She's different from a good many women that I know. They'd be willing to give all they have to find any old kind of a man.
