THAMES this day. A man named Harvey, from the Great Barrier, fell from a tree up the Kauaeranga stream, and sustained a slight concussion of the brain. His face was cut and his hands and arm bruised, but the injuries are not of a serious nature. Harvey was afraid of being bushed, and climbed a tree to ascertain his whereabouts, but fell. He had to wa|k two miles to the nearest camp.
Keports to hand are that birds should be plentiful for the shooting season from the Thames to Piako swamp, and further. Birds are very numerous in the district, and should provide splendid sport.
It has been decided to effect several improvements to the hospital. The total cost will not exceed £200. Senior Nurse Langley resigns next month, after four years' service.
The remarks of Mr. OT__ee_Te before Minister McGowan re the removal of Judge Cooper, provoked a considerable controversy. The opinion on the Thames is generally expressed that Mr. O'Keeffe was not warranted in speaking as he did, and that he did not represent the feelings of the miners.
