ELLERSLIE TRAINING NOTES.
The work at Ellerslie is becoming more and more interesting, in view of the approaching meeting at Avondale. This morning an earlier start than usual was made, and Khama, the fir.-.t to appear, traversed about six furlongs strongly. Golden Rose and Balbirnie each worked over the same distance, the last named covering the last four furlongs in good style. St. Loanda and Heliades registered a sound six furlongs in company, and Northumberland and Grey Seaton were nearly at top speed in a half mile sprint, finishing together. Beddington, with ihe lightest weight and the inside running, galloped a mile and a quarter on the grass, maintaining a solid pace. Val Rosa and Maroon and Gold ,starting from the fiv3 furlong mark, after he had passed, overtook him in the run dow.'J the straight, making up a lot of ground, and Bedding-tou, ridden out in the last furlong, finished with the sprinters, Roselj-a bcung eased off. Vat Rosa carried a fair weight, and registered a good gallop, and Beddington's performance from a time point was a fair one. Cavaliero jumped a few schooling hurdles. Formula, who has not been asked to do a great deal this week; cantered on the tan. Jewellery, Crecy, and Gressy were sent along- strongly over five furlong's. Bluejacket and St. Ursula did a sound working pace gallop of about a mile and a qtiarter. Cannongate's half--brother and Nor'-west were worked strongly. Ragabrash, Marine, and Powerful did steady pacing. Sundial brushed home over about three furlongs, after cantering once round. Glasgow finished in front of Laetitia at the end of a five furlong brush. Lance Corporal ran along strongly over seven furlongs, and Mamoa did strong work also. Coronet and. Nonette were companions in a gallop once round the.tan, both going well within themselves. Regalia 11. and Progee each dicl long steady work, Progee running along at nearly top speed otfer the last few furlongs of a circuit. Spalpeen was trotted and cantered. Sparkling Water and Camiile registered a useful six furlong gallop. Solo alone did steady work, brushing along down the straight. Straybird was schooled over the hurdles, jumping well. Winsome covered a mile and a, quarter with a light weight up nicely, Capford bringing her home. Pokomoko, Alma, and Gaiety Girl were exercised during the ..breakfast interval, after which Cannongate was allotted a useful task. Ding-o went in pleasing style, and was assisted over the last part of a round by Frances Lovejoy, Cavalry, and Up-to-date. Kelbourne, and Ida, Merry Kate and Swagsman, La Polish1, Alicia, Firefly, and Belfast each did more or less useful work. Zealous bowled along freely in the company of Shellback over bnce round. Paul Seaton alone, and La Gloria, Royal Conqueror, and Scotty together, were moved along at good three-quarter pace. Lady Avon galloped six furlongs. Orange and Blue, Whisper, Drudge, Tangahoe, Puffing Billy, and a. lot of others not engaged at the Avondale meeting were also out.
